CHILDREN'S WISH 2008

The 2008 Wish Child was Taylor LESAGE. Taylor is a young boy who has a rare blood disorder which makes it very risky for him to be able to roughouse like a normal boy as he is prone to serious bruising and bleeding if he is bumped too hard.

Anyone wishing to make a donation / pledge for next year can do so by contacting either the Childrens Wish Foundation or the Victoria Beach Police.

CHILDREN'S WISH 2007

2006 was a ride for Police officers only but in 2007 we opened it up for other interested riders. In 2007 our "wish child" was Tyler RISLUND from East Selkirk. Tyler is a 4 yr old boy who had heart problems from birth.

Tylers Dad even suited up for the day and rode the entire distance with very little training. We were all so very proud of James for doing that for his son and we were very pleased to present a cheque for $10,000.00 to the Children's Wish Foundation at our arrival at the Forks in Winnipeg.

In 2006 the Victoria Beach Police wanted to do something significant for the community so we decided to team up with the Winnipeg Police Bicycle Relay team and Childrens Wish Foundation. Our focus was to fund raise and then ride our bicycles 130 kms from Victoria Beach to Winnipeg.

Why bicycles? because we ride on patrol all summer long. Why Childrens Wish? Because we are so fortunate to have our health and some children are robbed of their childhood due to illness. We felt it paramount to give something to one of them. Our 2006 child was " Stormy" STEVENSON, 5 yr old girl, who has endured much pain and hardship due to her illness which has required her to undergo 15 major operations since birth. When asked as to the long range prognosis for Stormy, mom replied..."it's like running a race.......one hurdle at a time. Every time we fix one problem, another one looms in the distance."

The VBP raised $13,500.00 that first year.
